When I read the responses on their clients questionnaire, I knew this family's lifestyle newborn session would be a good time. My favorite response, though, was when mama said, "One of us is usually smiling like Patrick Bateman. Please help us! We need it!!" I literally laughed out loud, because I like people who can poke fun at themselves (note: our experience together revealed that no one smiled like Patrick Bateman. See below.).

When Lauren and I chatted on the phone before their session, I reassured her, if Patrick Bateman started creeping in, I'd let them to know. I don't want Patrick Bateman, or any likeness to him, to hijack anyone's portrait session!

This session was the stuff dreams are made of. When families show up just ready to love on each other, snuggle their new baby, and trust me to do my thing to help them photograph their best... I can't really ask for anything more.

Baby JJ had the coolest nursery with the sweetest little details. Playing on a travel theme, his nursery incorporated souvenirs from mama and daddy's travels, when JJ and his sister were but a twinkle in their eyes. The handmade whale, the family heirloom ships in glass bottles, the paper globes. Each of these thoughtful little details made for a really fun nursery.

And see? No Patrick Bateman. Just a family, loving on each other, granting each other grace and space as they adjust to a new normal.
