You know how sometimes, you have a goal and part of you think it's kind of a stretch, but it's something you want, nonetheless? That's how this first birthday party unfolded for me!
At the start of this year, when thinking about what I'd like to do with my photography business this year, travel sessions came up for me. I love traveling, and I obviously love this work, so marrying the two is kinda like heaven.
Earlier in the spring, my friend Melissa and I were talking about how quickly Lily's birthday was approaching, because Lily was only born like, last week, you know? Melissa said something along the lines of, "I wish you could photograph her birthday!" I was like, "hell yes, I'm in!" Initially, I think she thought I was kidding, but I was 100% serious. Don't tempt me with a good time. And so, Melissa invited me out to Chicago for sweet Lily's birthday.
The whole experience was incredibly humbling and heartwarming. Melissa and Dan had friends and family travel into Chicago from multiple different states. The love and good vibes were palpable and so, so sweet. They know how to put on a party and had so many fun elements - water balloons for the kiddos, a popcorn machine, donuts instead of cake, and the best sangria for the adults.
Melissa and family, thank you so much for inviting me out! I had the best weekend sharing in your joy.
